Navigating the Sacred and Mundane

Guess who came over and set up River's room on move-in day? Yep, Holly, Amelia and Josie. Guess who broke out with chicken pox the day after that? River. The doctor asked when I first noticed a spot and I pondered, hmmm, was it on the road in California? This hotel or that one? At the beach? Can't say.

We can't go anywhere public for six days. No wifi yet, just loitering in parking lots here and there to catch a signal while the spotted one naps. Feeling more comfortable in my car than the new house anyway.

Thanks for all of your well-wishes and blessings. We made it.

Swimming in boxes, but we'll break out the wine early tonight so we can spend the later hours explaining more about why the sky pops and booms. Scary.

Another post from the road...

Super cute picture, but where was it taken? I want to see pictures of her with Amelia and Josie!

I hope everyone gets their chicken pox over with soon.

Reminds me of this great picture of me when I was 5, riding the carousel in Central Park with chicken pox all over me.

Have fun!!

Yay, you made it! Happy Independence Day!
Sucks about the pox, but maybe good to just hunker down for a week as you unpack and unwind.
More well-wishes all around....

Cheers!

I'm so happy knowing you're where you belong, in Portland! Where is your step-daughter going to college? I have a great babysitter for you, Lucy Link!

You are so lucky she got the chicken pox!

This will serve her in the long run. It is soooooo much better than the vaccine.

No shingles for River when she's older! Plus...she's boosting yours and other adult's immunities to chicken by reexposing them.

She's a little walking public service!

((Scratch,scratch))!

P.S. She is adorable!

In my dream last night, Josie was covered in chicken pox ...i think if she were going to get them, it would have happened by now.
